Daryl Hall and John Oates first gained notoriety with their eponymous album of 1975 and would go on to become one of most successful duos in rock history. Hall and Oates first met in 1967 at Temple University and quickly bonded over their love for soul and rhythm and blues. They were also into folk music and their first album, Whole Oates, released in 1972, s what would now be described as an uncharacteristic folk sound. Hall & Oates next release, Abandoned Luncheonette, included the hit single "She's Gone." Hall & Oates's third album was titled War Babies and was produced by Todd Rundgren, but the album's heavy feel bothered fans. Fortunately, Hall & Oates returned to a mellower their RCA debut, Daryl Hall and John Oates. It gave the world "Sara, Smile" and dominated the charts. Hall & Oates released another album in 1976 titled Bigger Than Both of Us, which included the catchy single, "Rich Girl." Voices, was released in 1980 and included a hit remake of the Righteous Brothers' classic "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'," along with "Kiss on My List." The following year Private Eyes fared just as well, scoring hits with the title track and "I Can't Go For That." Next Hall & Oates released H20, which featured "Did It in a Minute," "Maneater," the slow ballad "One on One," and "Family Man." Then came a greatest hits collection, Rock 'n' Soul Part One. On it, Hall & Oates included new hits; Say It Isn't So," and "Adult Education." By late 1980s, Hall & Oates owned the record for number one hits by a duo. 1984's Big Bam Boom, yielded the hits "Out of Touch" and "Method of Modern Love." Then in 1988 they released Ooh Yeah! Hall & Oates issued Change of Season in 1990. By 1991, Hall & Oates decided to stop touring together to focus on solo projects. Fortunately for fans, the duo released Marigold Sky in 1997 , their first album since 1990. It would be another six years until their next release. Do It for Love was released in 2003. Hall & Oates were named recipients of the 2003 NARAS Heroes Awards. Hall & Oates issued a CD of mostly covers, Our Kind of Soul, in 2004. A DVD of live performances of the songs from Our Kind of Soul was released in November 2005. Hall & Oates released Home For Christmas in 2006. Their version of "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" became a number one Adult Contemporary hit
