As the front man for alternative radio darlings Matchbox Twenty, Thomas quickly proved his ability to craft a catchy hook or turn a touching phrase. Matchbox Twenty's debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You, has since sold over 12 million copies in the U.S. alone.
In 1999, one of classic rock's old warhorses gave Rob Thomas the big name push he needed to launch his solo career. To awe of his friends, Rob Thomas co-wrote the song "Smooth" with Carlos Santana for Santana's album Supernatural. "Smooth" took home three Grammys including Song of the Year, and Thomas landed on People's "Most Beautiful People" list. Rob Thomas' solo debut Lonely No More debuted in early 2005.
