3OH!3 Biography
3OH!3, an American electronic music duo, was formed in Boulder, Colorado, by Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte. This duo made a name for themselves with their single "DONTTRUSTME" from their album "Want," which secured the number seven spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Their remix of "Starstrukk," featuring
Katy Perry from the same album, achieved significant international success, hitting the top ten in the UK, Ireland, Finland, Poland, and Australia. The duo also collaborated with Kesha on the song "My First
Kiss," which led their album "Streets of Gold" to peak at number seven on the Billboard 200. The band's name, 3OH!3, references the 303 area code that once covered the entire state of Colorado.
The duo was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. Sean Foreman, born on August 27, 1985, and Nathaniel Motte, born on January 13, 1984, formed the band in 2004. They began their journey with local performances at the Fox Theatre in Boulder and the Aggie Theater in Ft. Collins. After gaining local popularity, they expanded their reach to the Denver metropolitan area and Boulder. Their first self-titled album, "3OH!3," was released in 2007 under Photo Finish Records, a division of Atlantic Records.
Their second album, "Want," was released in 2008 and achieved widespread recognition, peaking at number 44 on the Billboard 200. One of the album's songs, "Don't Trust Me," skyrocketed to number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. Throughout 2008 and 2009, the duo performed at numerous concerts, including the Warped Tour, MTVU's Spring Break, The Mile High Music Festival, Alternative Press Tour, and even the UK's Reading/Leeds festivals. In 2009, they released a remix of "Starstrukk," which featured
Katy Perry and was a top-ten hit in several countries.
3OH!3 continued their successful streak with the release of "Streets of Gold" in 2010. The album's lead single, "My First
Kiss," featured Kesha and quickly became popular. They also collaborated with Lil Jon on his album "Crunk Rock" and Kesha on her song "Blah Blah Blah," which peaked at number seven on the Billboard singles chart. Following the album's release, they embarked on a co-headlining tour called "The Too Fast for Love Tour" with
Cobra Starship, covering more than 25 cities, including a date in their home state of Colorado.
Their fourth album, "Omens," was released in 2013 after several single releases and many concert performances. Following "Omens," 3OH!3 announced they were working on a fifth studio album in 2014. This period also saw them collaborate with
Blues Traveler on their "Blow up the Moon" album and music video. In 2016, they released "Night Sports" with Fueled By Ramen and hinted at new music via social media. The album's fourth single, "Hear Me Now," was even featured on the soundtrack of Madden NFL17. Following the album's release, the band also performed on the Vans Warped Tour.
In 2020, the band teased new music and announced a concert in Denver, Colorado, in celebration of 303 Day. However, future shows were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In November of that year, they released a new song titled "Lonely Machines" with duo 100 gecs, a fun EDM anthem reminiscent of their earlier success with "Don't Trust Me." With their unique sound and style, 3OH!3 has made a lasting impression in the world of electronic music.
