Cold War Kids Biography
The American indie rock band known as Cold War Kids was established in 2004 in California. The group members met while students at Biola University, and after coming together to form the band, they moved to Whittier to record their first demo. The result was not only a demo, but what would actually become the EP Mulberry Street, released in 2005.
Following Mulberry Street, Cold War Kids immediately hit the road on an extensive tour to help establish a growing fan base. Between 2005 and 2006, the group recorded to additional EP’s – With Our Wallets Full and Up in Rags, eventually garnering the attention of Downtown Records. After signing with the label, Cold War Kids entered the studio to begin work on their major label debut.
Robbers & Cowards arrived in 2006 and was met with critical acclaim, but it was Cold War Kids’ second endeavor, Loyalty to Loyalty (2008), that became the group’s commercial breakthrough. Loyalty to Loyalty rose into the top twenty on the mainstream charts in the United States and into the top ten on the alternative and rock charts. The album spawned the charting singles: “Something Is Not Right with Me,” “Audience,” and “Louder Than Ever.” Cold War Kids followed Loyalty to Loyalty with the albums: Mine Is Yours (2011), Dear Miss Lonelyhearts (2013), and Hold My Home (2014), featuring the singles: “Finally Begin,” “Royal Blue,” “Miracle Mile,” “All This Could Be Yours,” and “First.”
Cold War Kids continues to perform and record with the current lineup of: Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz, and David Quon. The band released their latest album, L.A. Divine, in 2017; the album features their latest hit single, “Love is Mystical.”
