Kodaline Biography

Kodaline is an Irish music group formed in 2005. The band currently consists of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Steve Garrigan, drummer Vincent May, guitarist and keyboardist Mark Prendergast, and bassist Jason Boland. The former three formed Kodaline along with Conor Linnane in Dublin where they gained notoriety after participating in a local talent show program. They would see popularity in the 2010s after their debut self-titled EP.

Kodaline would soon receive placements on BBC Radio as well as television programs such as Grey’s Anatomy and advertisements for major companies such as Google. Their debut album, In a Perfect World, helped certify their name in the indie-folk scene across the globe. Multiple feature films picked songs off of Kodaline’s record for placements as they continued to route successfully and receive television placements as well. Their next two albums would also prove to be commercial successes.

Kodaline would top the charts with their first three albums in Ireland and peak at #3, #4, and #15 in the United Kingdom. The first album would be certified Platinum by the BPI and the second was certified Gold. Their debut single, “High Hopes,” topped the Irish charts and peaked at #16 in the UK while being certified Gold. Kodaline would have two more Silver records and a Platinum record with “All I Want.” They have had their music featured in dozens of television programs and feature films, as well as a FIFA video game.

Kodaline released their fourth studio album in the summer of 2020, entitled One Day at a Time. The record peaked at #2 in Ireland and #33 in the United Kingdom, along with two successful singles off of the project.
