Lewis Capaldi Biography
Lewis Capaldi is a Scottish singer and songwriter born in 1996. He was in Glasgow and would later move around the country for schooling. He would eventually graduate from New College Lanarkshire with an HND in music while learning multiple instruments throughout his childhood. While Lewis Capaldi found minor success in touring, he would break out in 2017 with his debut EP, Bloom.
The project would amass millions of plays across streaming services for Lewis Capaldi as he signed a deal with Universal and Capitol Records. By the end of the year, he became well-known in the European scene for his soulful sound. His breakout single, “Someone You Loved,” would be released the following year to critical acclaim as it catapulted Lewis Capaldi to new heights and generated tons of buzz for his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.
Lewis Capaldi’s album would go on to be certified triple-Platinum in his home country. It topped the Billboard charts in Scotland as well as Ireland and Norway, peaking at #20 on the Billboard 200. Lewis Capaldi has had two Platinum singles in America, with “Before You Go” and “Someone You Loved,” peaking at #10 and #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. The latter would earn him a Grammy nomination and four Brit nominations, including two wins.
After the award season, Lewis Capaldi was gearing up to go on tour with Niall Horan before cancellation occurred. In recent months, he released his third EP, To Tell the Truth I Can’t Believe We Got This Far, to critical acclaim.
