Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Biography

American folk and blues singer Nathaniel Rateliff grew up in the rural parts of Missouri, learning to play multiple instruments throughout his childhood and teen years. After moving to Colorado in his late teens, Rateliff established a strong following in the Denver music community, first as Nathaniel Rateliff and the Wheel, and then later as a solo artist.

As a solo artist, Nathaniel Rateliff released the albums: In Memory of Loss (2010), Shroud EP (2011), and Falling Faster Than You Can Run (2013), the latter of which was followed by an extensive tour opening for The Lumineers in support of the album. But in recent years, Nathaniel Rateliff has garnered even more attention for his latest incarnation, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, with a backing band featuring Patrick Meese, Mark Shusterman, and Joseph Pope III on drums, keyboards, and bass.

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats released a self-titled debut album in 2015, which spawned his first significant hit, “S.O.B.” The song rose into the top five on the alternative and rock airplay charts in the United States, and into the top twenty on the mainstream charts. Since their big breakthrough, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats has also released the follow-up album, A Little Something More from Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats (2016.) The album has already spawned the additional hits “I Need Never Get Old” and “Wasting Time.”
