Saint Motel Biography
The American indie pop band known as Saint Motel was established in Los Angeles in 2007 by founding members A/J Jackson and Aaron Sharp. The two young men were in film school when they decided to start writing music together; after bringing Dak Lerdamornpong and Greg Erwin into the lineup, Saint Motel was formed.
Inspired largely by their studies in film and video production, the group quickly became known for the incorporation of video into their musical works; their debut EP, ForPlay, even included a video to accompany each of the six songs featured. A feature album, Voyeur, arrived in 2012, featuring the songs “Puzzle Pieces,” “A Least I have Nothing,” “Benny Goodman,” and the song “My Type,” which became the first Saint Motel single to chart, rising into the top ten on the alternative charts in the United States and into the top twenty on the rock charts.
Although Voyeur didn’t chart, it did attract the attention of Elektra Records. While preparing for a major label debut, Saint Motel appeared in performance on television (for Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and at a number of film festivals, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. In 2016, Saint Motel released their follow-up to Voyeur, and their major label debut - saintmotelevision (2016.) The album rose up to the number sixty-two spot on the mainstream charts in the United States.
Clearly, Saint Motel is a band on the rise and one to watch in the coming years. They recently opened for Panic! At The Disco while on tour. The group’s most recent single, “Move,” charted in the top twenty on the alternative charts.
