Pam Anderson Biography

The Canadian-American actress, model, and activist Pamela Anderson was born in 1967 in Ladysmith, British Columbia. Pam grew up a rather tumultuous household, with many challenges, which she would reveal later on in her career. Before she became a model, Anderson worked as a fitness instructor, and it was at a football game in Vancouver that she was spotted and recognized for her nearly perfect physique and feminine curves. Within a short period of time, Pam Anderson was approached by Playboy with an offer to appear in the magazine.

Pam appeared as the cover girl on Playboy’s October 1989 edition, and shortly thereafter she moved to California to begin pursuit of a modeling career full-time. Although Playboy continued to showcase Pam throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, she began pursuit of modeling and acting opportunities beyond print publications. Her first minor acting role was on the hit sitcom Home Improvement, in which she played the show’s Tool Time Girl. A role on the hit series Baywatch followed, which further helped to make Pam a recognizable figure and solidify her career path as an actress in addition to model.

Pam Anderson’s first film role was in Raw Justice in 1994, followed by Barb Wire in 1996. Since that time, Pam has appeared in additional films, such as Scooby-Doo (2002) and Borat (2006), often as herself. But Anderson’s status as a celebrity figure has in recent years grown beyond her role as actress and model, as her political activism and support of a variety of current day causes has expanded. An avid supporter of animal rights and active vegan, Pam campaigns alongside PETA and has used her celebrity to further the campaign against the use of fur in fashion and cruelty in animal processing. The campaigns have pinned her against such corporate giants as Kentucky Fried Chicken and against the seal hunting industry in Canada.

Pam is also an active supporter of causes related to the AIDS and HIV epidemic, and she supports the legalization of marijuana. Although her legacy might appear to be that of one of Playboy’s most celebrated models (having appeared on the cover more than any other), Pam Anderson is a talented woman who has used her celebrity status to bring positive change to society and further progressive causes important to her and our modern age.
