Bell released a few singles in the 1950’s when he was a member of the Del-Rios, but launched a solo career with his song “You Don’t Miss Your Water” in the early 1960’s. The song was covered by Otis Redding, which gave Bell some additional exposure, but it was his song “Share What You Got (But Keep What You Need)” that launched his solo career upon its release in 1966.
Between 1967 and 2006, William Bell released another fifteen albums, including: Waiting for William Bell (1973), Coming Back for More (1977), Survivor (1983), Bedtime Stories (1992), and New Lease on Life (2006.) William Bell was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and was the recipient of the Rhythm and Blues Foundaiton’s R&B Pioneer Award in 1997.
