Slaughter Biography

The American rock group known as Slaughter was established in the late 1980’s in Las Vegas, Nevada, by founding members Dana Strum and Mark Slaughter. After adding Tim Kelly and Blas Elias to the band’s lineup, the group entered the studio to record their debut album.

The result, Stick It To Ya (1990), was an instant success, spawning the hit singles "Fly to the Angels,” "Up All Night,” and "Spend My Life.” The band arrived on the scene like a firestorm, and for the next decade released hit after hit album, receiving constant play on MTV and performing live with bands like Kiss, Dokken, Alice Cooper, and Warrant. The Wild Life came next in 1992, and on the strength of the single “Real Love,” certified gold quickly.  

Subsequent albums were equally successful: Fear No Evil (1995), Revolution (1997), and Back to Reality (1999), which gave rock fans the hits “”Gave Me Your Heart,” “Out for Love,” “Days Gone By,” “Reach for the Sky,” “Live Like There’s No Tomorrow,” and “Bad Groove.” Although Slaughter’s last studio release was in 1999, the band remains active with the new lineup of Slaughter, Strum, Bland, and Zoltan Chaney on drums and percussion.

In the new millennium, Slaughter has performed for a number of events, including: the “Voices of Metal” tour alongside such iconic bands as Ratt, Motley Crue, and Vixen; the festival event, Rocklahoma; the Motley Cruise tour; and most recently, the 2017 Monsters of Rock cruise. The band has also released the DVD Then and Now, which features rare photos and music spanning their decades-long career.
