Billy Gardell Biography

The American comedian and actor Billy Gardell was born in 1969 in Swissville, Pennsylvania, and spent his formative teenage years growing up in the Orlando area of Florida. Best known for his role as Mike Biggs on the hit television series Mike & Molly, Gardell began to consider acting and comedy as a career when he was in high school, joining the Thespian Society and working part-time in a local comedy club. Eventually, Mike was encouraged to perform for an open-mic night, and the rest – as they say – is history.

As his career started to rise, Gardell began opening for such notable acts as George Carlin and Dennis Miller. Mike’s talents eventually brought him small roles in the films Bad Santa (2003), Room 6 (2006), and You, Me, and Dupree (2006.) He also garnered a coveted role on the series Yes, Dear, in the role of Billy Colavita, in 2001. Gardell remained with the series for twenty-six episodes, through 2006. Roles on the shows My Name is Earl (2007-2009), Desperate Housewives (2008), and Bones (2009) followed, until in 2010, Billy Gardell was offered the role of Mike Biggs on the series Mike & Molly, a role he continues to this day and for which he has become best known.

Most recently, Billy Gardell appeared in the films Jersey Boys (2014) and Undrafted (2015), and in guest roles on the shows Sullivan & Son (2012-2014) and Phineas & Ferb (2013), in which he voices the character of Mayor Chickenen. In 2015, Billy Gardell began hosting the syndicated game show Monopoly Millionaires’ Club, which films in Las Vegas.
