DL Hughley Biography

Darryl Lynn Hughley, better known as D.L. Hughley, was born in 1963 in Los Angeles, California. His career began as the host of ComicView in 1992, but he is best known for the series the Hughleys, on which he acted, produced, and wrote from 1998 to 2002.

Following the Hughleys cancellation, D.L. Hughley went on to host Weekends at the D.L. for Comedy Central, and then accepted roles on the shows Scrubs and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.  In 2008, Hughley began hosting D.L. Hughley Breaks the News, a comedic news show for CNN. Although it lasted only one season, it turned Hughleys attention to a similar forum for radio, and one year later he began the D.L. Hughley Morning Show on the WEPN network, which ran until 2010.

Throughout his career, D.L. Hughley has appeared in a number of films, including The Brothers (2001), Chasing Papi (2003), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Soul Plane (2004), Cloud 9 (2006), Spy School (2008), and Hawaii Five-0 (2010.)  Most recently, D.L. Hughley published his first book, I Want You to Shut the Fuck Up: How the Audacity of Dopes is Ruining America, released in 2012.
