The African-American comedian Don “DC” Curry was born in 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas. Before Curry rose to prominence for his work on the hit television show Grace Under Fire, he first began working as a writer for a number of shows and small projects.
Curry’s earliest appearances were on BET’s Comic View, which led to his breakthrough role in Grace Under Fire in 1997. DC remained with the show for one season, which led to his big screen debut in the film Next Friday (2000), in the role of Uncle Elroy Jones. Curry reprised his role for Friday After Next in 2002, and has since also appeared in: Two Degreed (2001), Tears of a Clown (2005), and You Don’t Tell I Won’t Tell (2009.) DC Curry has also appeared on the television shows: The Steve Harvey Show, The Tracy Morgan Show, Everybody Hates Chris, and Black Jesus, in the role of City Councilmen Bowers.
Most recently, DC Curry returned to his roots to host BET’s Comic View in 2013. He also recently appeared in the film She Wins (2015), in the role of Uncle Dre.
