James Gaffigan was born in 1966 in Chesterton, Indiana. Gaffigan's career as a comedian began in the late 1990's, with a few small television roles, and by the dawn of the new millennium, he'd released his first album, Luigi's Doghouse (2001.)
Additional albums followed, including Economics II (2001), More Moo Moos (2003), and The Last Supper (2004), and around the same time James earned roles on a few television shows, including Sex and the City (2001), Friends (2001), The Ellen Show (2001-2002), Ed (2003-2004), and That 70's Show (2003-2004.) During this time he could also be seen in the films Super Troopers (2001), Igby Goes Down (2002), No Sleep Till Madison (2002), and 13 Going On 30 (2004.)
James Gaffigan's stand-up routine is noted for the quirky manner in which he satirizes food, specifically bacon and Hot Pockets. In 2004, he found his material included in Shorties Watchin' Shorties on Comedy Central, and his 2006 album, Beyond the Pale, was matched with a Comedy Central special, released on DVD shortly thereafter. His follow-up, King Baby, was also featured as a special on the network as well.
Most recently, Jim Gaffigan can be seen in the films The Love Guru (2008), 17 Again (2009), It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010), and Going the Distance (2010.) He has also recently appeared on the shows Flight of the Conchords (2009), Bored to Death (2010), Royal Pains (2011), and Portlandia (2013.) In 2011, Gaffigan could be seen in That Championship Season, the Broadway show in which he performs alongside Jason Patric, Chris North, and Keifer Sutherland.
