Susie Essman Biography

Susie Essman was born in 1955 in New York City. Although currently most recognized for her role on the show Curb Your Enthusiasm, as Susie Greene, Essman began performing stand-up shortly after graduating from college, and her first Comedy Central special launched in 1992.

By the mid 1990’s, Susie Essman was appearing in a number of films, and can be seen in: Volcano (1997), The Siege (1998), The Secret Lives of Dentists (2002), The Man (2005), Bolt (2008), Make My Day (2009), and Cop Out (2010.) Her work on television includes appearances in: Ned & Stacey (1995), Keeping the Faith (2000), The King of Queens (2002), Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2002), American Dad (2009), and a recurring role on Law & Order (1997-2004) in addition to her recurring role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, since 2000.

In 2004, Susie Essman participated in the Friars Club roast for Donald Trump, and also performed stand-up for the 2007 Newbury Comedy Festival. Other past contributions to comedy including voicing the character of Helen Higgins on Crank Yankers for Comedy Central, and serving as a news correspondent on The Daily Show. Most recently, Susie Essman has published her first book, What Would Susie Say: Bullshit Wisdom About Love, Life, and Comedy (2009.)
