Chase Rice Biography
The American singer and songwriter Chase Rice was born in 1986 in Asheville, North Carolina. Rice grew up on a farm just outside of the town, and spent his high school years playing football for his school. Although he’d always been interested in music and played guitar, Chase initially had no aspirations to enter the entertainment industry. However, after graduating from the University of North Carolina, he auditioned for and was selected as a castmember for the television reality competition series Survivor: Nicaragua. The move changed the course of his life forever.
Chase Rice rose to become one of the finalists on the show, although he lost the competition by one vote. On the reunion show, he performed a song he’d written, and the opportunity led to his decision to take songwriting and performing more seriously. Rice began writing music and entered the studio to record his debut album in 2009. The result was the debut album, Friday Nights & Sunday Mornings, which arrived in the following year and featured the songs “Buzz Back” and “Girls of the SEC.”
Friday Nights & Sunday Mornings was moderately successful for Chase Rice, but it was the song “How She Rolls,” which appeared on his sophomore album, Dirty Road Communion (2012), which finally brought the artist a charting single. The second single released from the album, “Ready Set Roll,” fared even better, and became Rice’s breakthrough hit, rising into the top five on the country charts and reaching platinum status.
Since that time, Chase Rice has also released the album Ignite the Night (2014), featuring the top ten hit “Gonna Wanna Tonight.” Rice most recently released the song “Whisper,” which provides a sneak peek to his next album, expected to release in the coming year.
