Chris Janson Biography
Country music artist Chris Janson was born in 1986 in Perryville, Missouri. Janson had harbored dreams of entering the music industry for most of his childhood, and so after graduating from high school he moved to Nashville to begin pursuit of that dream. Janson began to receive work as a songwriter, and in the earlier part of his career he penned a number of songs for artists such as Tim McGraw, Hank Williams, Craig Campbell, and Justin Moore.
In 2009, Chris Janson signed with BNA Records and entered the studio to begin work on his own debut single, “Til a Woman Comes Along,” which arrived in the spring of the following year. The song and Janson’s vocal abilities received critical praise, and the song debuted on the country charts at number fifty-six. In 2013, Janson switched labels, signing with Bigger Picture Music Group, and he again began recording material for release. His next single, “Better I Don’t,” rose into the top forty, and another song, “Cut Me Some Slack,” fared equally well.
After switching labels one more time to Columbia Records, Chris Janson finally released his major label debut, Buy Me a Boat, which was a smash hit. The album rose into the top five on the country music charts and spawned the title song, which also became a top five hit on every country music chart. The song also rose into the top forty on the mainstream charts in the United States, and set the stage for the follow-up top forty hit, “Power of Positive Drinkin.”
Chris Janson recently released the song “Holdin Her,” which will appear on his next album, scheduled for release in the coming year.
