KC & the Sunshine Band launched onto the music scene with Do It Good, their debut album, and ushered in the disco era with enthusiasm. The hit singles off the KC & the Sunshine Band album, including "Blow Your Whistle" and "Sound Your Funky Horn," rocketed to the top of the R&B charts. KC & the Sunshine Band, released in 1975, brought the iconic disco hit "Get Down Tonight," propelling the album to sales exceeding three million copies. "That's The Way (I Like It)" would reach number one on the charts, and one year later, Part 3 would bring the band the hits "Keep It Comin' Love," "I'm Your Boogie Man," and "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty." KC & the Sunshine Band's "Please Don't Go" in 1979 was followed by The Painter and Space Cadet in 1981. KC Ten followed, and then in 1985, Casey himself decided to take a break from the music scene. KC & the Sunshine Band came back in 1991, and Oh Yeah! was released in 1993. It would be 2001 before KC & the Sunshine Band would return, but they reappeared on the music scene with I'll Be There For You, and the band even appeared in the film The In-Laws in 2003. Most recently, the video game series Dance Dance Revolution features the KC & the Sunshine Band hits "That's the Way (I Like It)", "Shake Your Booty," and "Get Down Tonight." "Keep It Comin' Love" was featured on the movie soundtrack for Blow, and many of KC & the Sunshine Band's songs have been sampled for hip-hop songs, including "I Get Lifted." "I'm Your Boogie Man" was featured in the film Roll Bounce. KC & the Sunshine Band appeared on American Idol in 2009, singing "Get Down Tonight," and in the same year performed at the IBM Impact Smart Conference in Las Vegas. KC & the Sunshine Band continue periodic performances of their classics to their fans.
