Modestep Biography

The rock and dubstep group Modestep was established in London in 2010. Members Nick Tsang, Josh Friend, and Tony Friend had been working as DJs and musicians around the city when they met up and decided to work together as a group. After working together on material, Modestep released a debut single, “Feel Good,” in 2011. As part of an EP which included the additional tracks “Bite the Hand” and “Sunlight,” Modestep’s “Feel Good” rose into the top forty on the charts in the United Kingdom and spawned a YouTube video which garnered over a million hits in less than a week.  

 

Modestep began touring extensively in 2011, appearing for the next few years at such notable festivals as the Download Festival, Wireless Festival, Redfest, Reading and Leeds Festival, Grape Festival, and Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Two additional EPs followed (Show Me A Sign and Inside My Head), and Modestep’s debut album, Evolution Theory, was released in the winter of 2013.

 

Nick Tsang recently left the group, to be replaced by Kyle Deek and Pat Lundy, but Modestep has continued to enjoy rising success in the last few years. The group continues to perform and tour, and has plans to record their second studio album in the next year.
