Shermanology Biography

The DJ duo known as Shermanology was established by the brother and sister team of Dorothy and Andy Sherman. Andy and Dorothy spent their formative years growing up in Amsterdam and also the Caribbean, and were highly influenced by their uncle and father, who were both musicians. With influences of funk, jazz, and soul contributing to their sound, the siblings formed Shermanology and began to rise to prominence in the early 2010’s.

 

Shermanology’s breakthrough came in 2011 when they were featured on the Avicii hit “Blessed.” A collaboration on “Can’t Stop Me,” with Afrojack, further brought their sound to festivals and clubs around the world, and over the next few years, they began to hone their sound further by returning to the Motown roots of their childhood, drawing from such influential artists as Earth, Wind, and Fire.

 

Shermanology spent much of 2015 preparing for their debut EP, which released in September. Notable singles from the EP include “What You Wanna Do,” “Old Skool Dayz,” and “Sweet Surrender,” all of which have been experiencing regular play in clubs around the globe. The duo has also recently launched a series of podcasts and a radio show, promoting their “Phylosophy” brand of music.

 

Shermanology is definitely a DJ duo on the rise and one to watch. The siblings recently played in Amsterdam at Jimmy Woo, to a sell-out crowd.
