Timeflies Biography

The music duo known as Timeflies was formed in 2010 by Cal Shapiro and Rob Resnick. Resnick and Shapiro met while attending Tufts University in Boston, and began collaborating musically, eventually forming their first band, the Ride. After the Ride disbanded, the duo formed Timeflies and released their debut, The Scotch Tape, in 2011.

The Scotch Tape rose into the top ten on the iTunes chart at record speed, and set the stage for the release of the EP One Night in 2012. One Night also rose to the number one spot on the iTunes Pop charts and into the top forty on the Billboard mainstream charts, spawning the hit singles “One Night” and “Swoon.” Timeflies’ success brought them to the attention of Island Def Jam Music Group, which partnered with their independent label, Forty8Fifty, before releasing the mixtape Under the Influence (2012) another EP, Warning Signs (2013.)

Most recently, Timeflies performed at Lollapalooza in the summer of 2013. The band received a nomination from Popdust for Next Pop Superstar of 2013, and has plans for another album release in the coming years.
