Zedd Biography

The DJ artist known as Zedd was born Anton Zaslavski in 1989 in Russia. Zedd grew up in a house with strong musical influences; both parents were professional musicians, and so his study of music began early on. Zedd began studying drums and piano when he was only four, and throughout his formative years he focused on classical music, until a growing interest in electronic music shifted his attention to a different genre.

Zedd’s first gig was as a member of the band Dioramic, but by 2009 he’d begun to experiment with remixes that resulted in growing popularity and recognition. A remix of Skrillex’s hit, “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” hit the charts and paved with way for award-winning remixes of such notable artists as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and the Black Eyed Peas. Lady Gaga even included Zedd’s remixes of her hits “Marry the Night” and “Born This Way” on her album Born This Way. Their mutual admiration for each other’s work has led to a new venture for Zedd – serving as producer for her next album set for release soon.

Most recently, Zedd signed his first record deal and released,” Spectrum,” his debut single. His debut album, Clarity, was released in 2012 and rose into the top ten on the UK Dance charts. The MTV Video Music Awards recently nominated Zedd as an “Artist to Watch.”
