Snails Biography

The Canadian DJ known as Snails, aka Frederick Durand, rose to prominence via Skrilex’s imprint, OWSLA, as have many other up and coming DJs in recent years. With an unusual sound featuring oscillating synthesizers and guttural bass gurgles, Snails began recording and releasing his early works online in 2012. A number of collaborations with fellow electronic musicians such as Jack U eventually led the artist to Skrillex, who took Snails under his wing.

Snails released the singles “Wild” and “Pump This” in 2014, embarking on his first North American tour and performing at music festivals such as Ultra Music Festival and Electric Forest. Upon his return, Snails released the single “King Is Back,” just in advance of an extensive tour in support of Flosstradamus. The years 2015 and 2016 saw SNAILS performing at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and at additional venues in Asia and Austraia, the latter as part of the Touch Bass traveling festiva alongside Slushii, another Skrillex prodigy.

DJ Snails is an electronic music artist on the rise and definitely one to watch in the coming years. While Snails prepares for his feature debut, he continues to release singles, often in collaboration with other artists. His most recent offering, “Waffle House,” was recorded with Botnek and arrived in 2017, with an accompanying music video.
