Bizarre Biography

The rapper known as Bizarre was born Rufus Arthur Johnson in 1976 in Detroit. Young Rufus grew up in a rough neighborhood, finding solace in the local rap scene and frequently participating in the infamous rap battles at Saint Andrew’s Hall. Although Bizarre released his first solo EP, Attack of the Weirdos, in 1997, he has focused mainly on his rap group, D12, which released a debut EP, The Underground, just the year before. 

 

With D12, Bizarre continued to perform and release new material, until in 2005 he released his own feature length album as a solo performer. Hannicap Circus performed well and featured music with a number of notable artists, including Eminem, with whom he has frequently collaborated over the years. The additional albums Blue Cheese & Coney Island (2007) and Friday Night at St. Andrews (2010), featuring the songs “Fat Boy” (with King Gordy); “So Hard” (with Monica Blair); “Believer” (with Nate Walka); and “Rap’s Finest” (with Kuniva and Seven the General.) Bizarre has also partnered with King Gordy to form the hip-hop duo The Davidians.

 

Most recently, Bizarre released the song “Pray for Me,” scheduled to appear on an upcoming album to be released in 2014.
