The American rapper known as Gangsta Boo or Lady Boo was born in 1979. Gangsta Boo rose to fame as the only female member of the high profile rap group, Three 6 Mafia, which was established in 1991 and founded in Memphis, Tennessee. Gangsta Boo joined the group just before the release of their album Mystic Stylez in 1995, but left the group in 2000 after business disputes began to dissolve relationships.
Just prior to leaving Three 6 Mafia, Gangsta Boo released a solo album, Enquiring Minds, which rose into the top forty on the mainstream charts and into the twenty on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Two albums followed: Both Worlds *69 (2001) and Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera (2003.) During this time, Gangsta Boo also collaborated with Prophet Posse to release the albums The Return: Part 1 (2007) and Hood USA (2008), and appeared on dozens of songs as a featured artist.
Notable works on which Gangsta Boo has appeared over the last decade include: “I’ll Call Before I Come” (with OutKast); “Da Blow” (with Lil Jon); “Hollywood Stars” (with Lord T & Eloise); “I Love U No More” (with DJ King SamS); “Call the Weedman” (with Gucci Mane); “Game Plan” (with Lord Infamous); “Throw It Up” (with Eminem); “Tonight” (with Clipping); “Love Again” (with Run the Jewels): and “Run Up On Me” (Nine Callisto.)
Gangsta Boo continues to perform and record. She most recently released the album Witch, in collaboration with La Chat, in 2014. Gangsta Boo also released two mixtapes in the last few years: It’s Game Involved (2013) and Underground Cassette Tape Music (2014), the latter of which was recorded with Beatking. The recent 2015 song “12345666,” by Butter Bullets, also features Gangsta Boo.
