The English rapper and MC known as Romeo (or sometimes, MC Romeo), was born Marvin Dawkins in 1980 and spent his formative years growing up in the south London area of Battersea. Romeo burst onto the music scene with his solo debut, Solid Love, in 2002, which spawned the chart-topping UK singles, “Romeo Dunn’em” and “It’s All Gravy Baby,” a duet with Christina Milian.
Although Solid Love was initially successful, Romeo has not released another album since that debut, although he has moved on to other endeavors. In 2004, he appeared on the reality competition The Games, followed by a game show in which he was featured, titled Fool Around With…Romeo (2005.) He appeared on the BBC series Don’t Tell the Bride in 2009, and then again on the 2012 season of Celebrity Big Brother, lasting nearly to the finals and becoming one of the last celebrities to be evicted.
Romeo continues to act, perform, and still record on occasion. He was recently featured on the Lisa Maffia single “Don’t Stop the Music,” alongside Tyler Daley.
