Akai Solo Biography

Daniel Dickson, professionally known as Akai Solo, is a Brooklyn-born rapper of Panamanian and Nigerian descent. His stage name, Akai Solo, is an acronym that stands for Ascended Killer Absolving Ignorance Souls Of Lords Omniscient, with "akai" translating to the color red in Japanese. Growing up in Brooklyn, Akai discovered hip-hop during sixth grade when his math teacher played Aesop Rock's "Nickel Plated Pockets" in class. The lyrics resonated with him, particularly the reference to rapper Vordul Mega from Cannibal Ox, which reminded him of a classmate named Shamar.

As he entered his teenage years, Akai and his friends formed a rap group called B.D.B. (Brooklyn's Deadly Brigade), with Akai initially going by the moniker KITE (Killing Ignorance Throughout Eternity). This early collaboration laid the foundation for his future endeavors in music. In 2019, Akai released his debut mixtape, From The Burning East With Love, marking the beginning of his solo career.
