Tate Sequoya Farris, professionally known as Baby Tate (formerly Yung Baby Tate), was born on May 13, 1996, in Decatur, Georgia. Born to renowned singers Dionne Farris and David Ryan Harris, Tate was exposed to music from an early age. Although she did not have contact with her father during her childhood, her mother played a crucial role in nurturing her musical aspirations. By the age of 13, Tate was not only learning to dance and play the piano but had also begun producing her own beats.Tate's music career commenced in earnest with the release of her debut EP, ROYGBIV, in November 2015. This early project set the foundation for her unique style and artistic voice. In December 2016, she followed up with a Christmas-themed EP titled YBTXMAS. Her debut full-length album, Girls, released in February 2019, was well-received, with XXL naming it one of the best hip-hop projects that year. This acclaim marked a significant milestone in her burgeoning career.In 2019, she gained further recognition with her viral single "I Am," featuring rapper Flo Milli. The success of this track was augmented by the inclusion of her song "Beckham" in the pilot episode of HBO's series Euphoria. As her visibility grew, she continued to explore new musical avenues, releasing a cover of Nicki Minaj's "Megatron" in July 2019 and collaborating with British rapper Bree Runway on the single "Damn Daniel" in 2020. Tate's transition into a more prominent music sphere was solidified when she signed a contract with Issa Rae's record label, Raedio. December 2020 saw her release the EP After the Rain, which included the noteworthy singles "Rainbow Cadillac" and "I Am." A deluxe edition of the EP followed in May 2021. Recognized by Audiomack as an artist on the rise in March 2021, Tate expressed her appreciation for the acknowledgement of her hard work and perseverance in the music industry.In late 2021, she shortened her stage name to Baby Tate. That year also marked her participation in the tenth season of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, further increasing her popularity. By 2022, she was opening for Charli XCX on the North American leg of the Crash: The Live Tour, expanding her reach and audience as a live performer.Continuing her evolution as an artist, Baby Tate released her major label debut single, "Pedi," with Warner Records on October 29, 2021. More recently, she released her EP Baby Tate Presents: Sexploration the Musical on October 27, 2023.
