Future Biography

The American hip-hop recording artist known as Future was born Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn in 1983 in Atlanta, Georgia. Future burst onto the music scene in early 2010 with a series of mixtapes that ultimately earned him a record deal with Epic Records.

After he signed with the label, Future entered the studio to prepare for a debut album. The result, Pluto, was an enormous success upon its release in 2014, spawning the singles: “Karate Chop,” “Honest,” “Shit,” and “Real and True,” featuring Miley Cyrus. Notable singles from Future’s previous mixtape releases include: “Magic,” “Same Damn Time,” “Turn On the Light,” “Neva End” (featuring Kelly Rowland), and “Karate Chop” (featuring Lil Wayne.)

Future followed Pluto with the albums: Honest (2014) and DS2 (2015), and the mixtapes: Monster (2014), Beast Mode (2015), 56 Nights (2015), and What a Time to Be Alive (2015.) Collectively, they gave audiences the additional singles: “Move That Dope” (featuring Pharrell and Pusha T); “I Won” (featuring Kanye West); “Where Ya At” and “Jumpman” (both featuring Drake); and “Low Life” (featuring The Weeknd.) For his music thus far in his career, Future has been recognized with multiple award nominations, including: two American Music Awards for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist; two Billboard Music Award nominations for Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album; and multiple BET and BET Hip-Hop Award nominations.

Future continues to perform and record. His latest album release is EVOL, which arrived in 2016. It was accompanied by two additional mixtape releases in that year – Purple Reign and Beast Mode 16.
