Veeze Biography

Karon Malcolm Vantrees, known professionally as Veeze, was born on February 28, 1995, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up on the West Side of Detroit, specifically along Seven Mile Road. Prior to entering the music industry, Veeze aspired to be a professional basketball player but ultimately refocused his ambitions toward music. His early experiences included struggles with substance abuse, which he openly addresses in his work. His musical influences stem from iconic rappers such as Tupac Shakur, DMX, and Lil Wayne, as well as local Detroit rap groups, which have played a significant role in shaping his style.Veeze’s musical career began in earnest in 2017, and he made his first commercial splash with the single "Itself," released on May 22, 2019. This debut release garnered moderate attention and marked the start of his rise within the Detroit rap scene. Following his initial single, he released "Rusty," which, while not charting, gained local traction and caught the interest of fellow artists, leading to support for his first music video.In late September 2019, Veeze launched his debut mixtape, "Navy Wavy", through Warner Records. This collection included previously released tracks and collaborations with artists such as Babyface Ray and Peezy. Over the next few years, he continued to produce music independently, releasing singles such as "Law & Order" and "Kurt Angle," while also collaborating with other artists in the industry, which led to a growing presence in the music scene.By 2022, Veeze had reached new heights with his features, notably appearing on Lil Baby's track "U-Digg," which debuted at number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his first appearance on this prestigious chart. This success set the stage for his debut studio album, "Ganger", released on June 27, 2023. The album received critical acclaim and featured collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, Icewear Vezzo, and others, solidifying Veeze's place as a prominent figure in hip-hop, notably, the single "GOMD." Following the release of "Ganger", Veeze launched his record label, Navy Wavy, in collaboration with Warner Records. He also released a deluxe edition of the album in October 2023, adding five new tracks to his discography. Veeze's distinctive use of autotune and lyrical creativity have garnered significant attention from music critics and fans alike, with multiple tracks ranked among the best albums of 2023 by various publications.As of 2024, Veeze continues to expand his musical influence with new singles and upcoming tour announcements. His recent releases, including "Pop Yo Shit," and "F*cked A Fan," showcase his evolving artistry and commitment to his craft. Veeze has also remained active in collaborations, contributing to tracks from artists like Luh Tyler and Lil Yachty.
