YFN Lucci Biography

The American rapper known as YFN Lucci was born Rayshwan Lamar Bennett in 1991. Bennett grew up in a Jamaican-American household in Atlanta, where he was influenced by performers such as Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and Tupac while growing up. By the time he was sixteen, Rayshawn had decided to pursue a career as a performer full-time, adopting the moniker YFN Lucci and signing with Think It’s a Game Entertainment in 2014.

Lucci released the debut mixtape Wish Me Well later that year, followed by Wish Me Well 2 in 2016. The latter became YFN Lucci’s first to land on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts in the United States, rising to the number twenty-eight spot and spawning Lucci’s first charting single—“Key to the Streets,” featuring Trouble and Migos. During this time, YFN Lucci also appeared as a feature artist on a number of single by other performers, including: “Go Get It” (with Mojoceosys and YFN Kay); “Whatever” (with BowlLane Slick); “Work for It” (with Kayla Brianna); and “Bandz” (with Jim Fetti.)

YFN Lucci’s biggest breakthrough came recently, with the release of his debut EP, Long Live Nut (2017.) This time, the album rose into the top forty on the mainstream charts in the United States and spawned Lucci’s first mainstream top forty hit—the song “Everyday We Lit” also reached the top ten on the rap charts  and the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. Long Live Nut also gave YFN Lucci a top twenty hit on both the R&B/Hip-Hop and rap charts as well.

YFN is a hip-hop artist on the rise and one to watch in the coming years. He has recently announced the upcoming release of his debut studio album, currently untitled in 2018.
