Paloma Faith Biography

The British singer and actress Paloma Faith was born in 1981 in Hackney. Paloma’s childhood was filled with exposure to the arts through dance classes and music studies, and she particularly loved ballet. Faith went on to study contemporary dance in college, followed by studies in theater directing in graduate school, until an A&R man from Epic Records caught one of Paloma’s performances at a cabaret show. It was ultimately her talents as a singer, instead of as a dancer, which launched her career.

Paloma Faith’s debut song, “Stone Cold Sober,” arrived in 2009 and rose into the top twenty on the charts in the UK. The follow-up single “New York” fared equally as well, and set the stage for her debut album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful? The album, which featured Paloma Faith’s own writing, rose into the top ten on the UK charts where it remained for multiple weeks. The album was followed by Fall to Grace, released in 2012, which featured the songs: “Picking Up the Pieces,” “30 Minute Love Affair,” “Never Tear Us Apart,” “Just Be,” and “Black & Blue.” Paloma also appears on a number of songs by other artists, including: “Keep Moving” (with Adam Deacon & Bashy); and “Hard Times” (with Plan B and Elton John.)

In addition to her career as a singer/songwriter, Paloma Faith has also appeared in films including The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009.) Faith most recently released her most successful album to date, A Perfect Contradiction, in 2014, which features the top ten singles: “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” and “Can’t Rely on You.” Paloma has so far been recognized with three BRIT Award nominations, for Best British Album and British Female Solo Artist. Paloma Faith is definitely a star on the rise, growing in popularity and achievement, and great things are expected to come from her in the next few years.
