Mannie Fresh Biography
Mannie Fresh was born Byron O. Thomas in 1969. His start in music began in New Orleans, where he worked as a DJ and developed a relationship with MC Gregory D. Alongside MC Gregory D, Mannie Fresh released a number of albums, including Throwdown in 1987, and the duo found moderate success as rap performers.
Following his work with MC Gregory D, Mannie Fresh began working for Cash Money Records as a producer, helping to create some of the most successful albums for performers such as the Hot Boys. By the mid 1990’s, Mannie had formed the Big Tymers, and the group went on to release five successful albums. Mannie Fresh launched his solo career in 2004, releasing the Mind of Mannie Fresh, an album that featured the single, “Real Big.”
Mannie Fresh is currently signed to Def Jam South. He most recently released Return of the Ballin’ (2009) and collaborated with Yasiin Bey on the 2013 album OMFGOD. Mannie Fresh has plans for future albums and projects.
