Young MC Biography
The rapper and actor known as Young MC was born Marvin Young in 1967 in London. When Young MC was only eight, he moved to New York with his family and although he discovered a love of music as a child, he went on to graduate from high school and college, majoring in economics, before discovering his calling.
While in college, Young MC began associating with a number of rap musicians, eventually leading him to Tone Loc, with whom he collaborated on the songs “Funky Cold Medina” and “Wild Thing.” The success of the singles helped boost Young MC’s popularity, boosting the success of his debut album, Stone Cold Rhymin’. Since that time, Young MC has released a series of successful albums, including: Brainstorm (1991), What’s the Flavor? (1993), Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That (2000), Engage the Enzyme (2002), Adrenaline Flow (2007), and Relentless (2009.)
Young MC continues to perform and record. He recently made a cameo appearance in George Clooney’s film Up in the Air, performing as himself at a company convention.
