Evan and Jaron Biography

Jaron David Lowenstein and Evan Mitchell Lowenstein were born in 1974 in Georgia. The identical twin brothers began their musical journey together when given Discmans for their Bar mitzvahs. Within a short period of time, Evan and Jaron found themselves immersed in music, and heavily influenced by melodic folk-pop similar to the sound that made Simon & Garfunkel famous.

In college, Evan and Jaron began performing around in local bars and clubs, developing a fanbase and eventually an independent album, Live at KaLo’s Coffee House (1995), a tribute to one of their favorite haunts. Not from Concentrate followed in 1996, and Evan and Jaron even performed at the Olympics in Atlanta that year.

It was enough to garner Evan and Jaron a record deal with Island Records, after being noticed by Jimmy Buffett. We’ve Never Heard of You, Either was released in the spring of 1998, Evan and Jaron followed with Columbia Records in 2000, and launched their highest-reaching single, “Crazy for This Girl.” Other singles from the album include “The Distance” and “From My Head to My Heart.” Half Dozen followed in 2004.

Evan left the duo to start a family, but Jaron has continued on, releasing Getting Dressed in the Dark, his debut solo album, in 2010. It charted at number two on the Country Album charts and sold more than 20,000 copies in its first week.
