Nick Jonas was born in 1992 in Dallas, Texas. Long before Nick launched the famous Jonas Brothers alongside his siblings, he spent his childhood immersed in the entertainment industry. After a chance discovery by a talent scout when hew as only six, Nick appeared in a number of Broadway and off-Broadway shows, including: A Christmas Carol (2000), Annie Get Your Gun (2001), Beauty and the Beast (@002), and Les Miserables (2003.) During his early career, Nick Jonas also began to write his own music, hoping to launch a career as a solo artist someday.
But recording companies had a greater interest in Nick Jonas as part of a group which would include his brothers as well. So in 2006, Columbia Records released the Jonas Brothers album It’s About Time, followed by Jonas Brothers in 2007. While the group’s debut did not garner significant commercial success, their sophomore effort did, rising into the number five spot on the mainstream charts.
Soon, the Jonas Brothers were everywhere, especially everywhere “Disney,” appearing on episodes of Hannah Montana and Phineas and Ferb. The Disney Channel series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream, came next in 2008, and for the next few years, Nick Jonas and his brothers enjoyed a steady rocket ride to success. A third and fourth studio album (A Little Bit Longer and Lines, Vines and Trying Times) matched the success of Jonas Brothers.
The Jonas Brothers embarked on a hiatus in 2010, returning Nick to his original aspiration of a career as a solo artist. Later that year, he launching Nick Jonas & the Administration with the release of the debut album Who I Am. He also recently returned to his musical theater roots, returning to the West End stage for Les Miserables in 2010. Although the Jonas Brothers officially disbanded in 2013, Nick Jonas continues to perform and record as a solo artist. His most recent album is Nick Jonas, which arrived in 2014.
