Nir Tibor, known professionally as Dennis Lloyd, was born on June 18, 1993, in Tel Aviv, Israel, to an Ashkenazi family. He was raised in Ramat Gan and displayed musical talent from an early age, learning to play the trumpet at the age of eight and teaching himself the guitar by age thirteen. Lloyd attended the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Givatayim. Upon turning eighteen, he was conscripted into the Israeli Navy. Lloyd's music career began to take shape in 2015 with the release of his first single, "Playa (Say That)." Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Bangkok, Thailand, where he immersed himself in music for a year, writing an impressive 35 songs. Upon his return to Israel, he released tracks such as "Snow White" and "Nevermind (Alright)," the latter of which he remixed and officially released as "Nevermind" in late 2016.The remixed "Nevermind" rapidly gained traction on platforms like Spotify, peaking at number four on the Spotify Global Viral chart. The song became a major hit, amassing over 900 million streams and more than 1.5 million Shazams, and was recognized by Time magazine as one of the "songs of summer" in 2018. Lloyd's unique sound and engaging performances contributed significantly to his growing popularity.In June 2017, Lloyd showcased his talent through an acoustic performance of "Leftovers" on the prominent German YouTube channel "Colors," which garnered over 43 million views. He continued to build his reputation with the announcement of the MTFKR Tour in March 2018, which kicked off in May in Italy and included dates across Europe and North America. His performance of "Nevermind" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! further solidified his presence in the international music scene.Following the success of "Nevermind," Lloyd released "Never Go Back" in February 2019, which was well-received by notable music publications such as Billboard and Forbes. This single led to the release of his debut EP, "Exident", on April 5, 2019, which included accompanying music videos for the tracks "Never Go Back" and "GFY." Lloyd embarked on a sold-out Never Go Back tour across the United States, Canada, and Australia, while also making appearances at major music festivals, including Coachella and the Governor's Ball.In addition to his touring and release schedule, Lloyd participated in a Spotify Singles session in July 2019, collaborating with guitarist Tom Morello to cover Audioslave's "Like a Stone." Later that year, on September 14, he released the single "Wild West," which was featured on the EA Sports FIFA 20 soundtrack.
