DNCE Biography

The American dance-rock band known as DNCE recently rose to prominence with their smash debut hit, “ Cake by the Ocean.” But before this successful entry to the music scene, the group was founded by Jack Lawless, JinJoo Lee, and Joe Jonas, of Jonas Brother fame. The musicians struggled for many years to align their busy schedules to form DNCE, but the group became an instant success once they did.

DNCE followed their smash hit with the debut EP, Swaay, which earned them both critical acclaim and commercial success, rising into the top forty on the mainstream charts and even higher in Canada and abroad. The EP was followed by the debut album, DNCE, released in 2016 and featuring the singles “Toothbrush” and “Body Moves.” Also in 2016, DNCE appeared as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers in the live television broadcast of Grease: Live, toured in support of Selena Gomez, and launched their own fourteen-city tour, the Greatest Tour Ever Tour.

So far, DNCE has been nominated for two American Music Awards (Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group and New Artist of the Year) and multiple other awards, including a Teen Choice Award win for Choice Music: Party Song. The group most recently provided the song “Forever” for the Lego Batman Movie’s Original Soundtrack. The year 2017 will see DNCE perform in support of Bruno Mars on tour and also launch their second headlining tour.
