Louis the Child Biography
The music duo known as Louis the Child was established in 2012, by founding members Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren. The two men had met while students at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, although it wasn’t until a chance meeting at a concert after graduation that they came together as a musical duo. Prior to that, Hauldren had DJ-ed while studying at the University of Southern California, while Kennett had focused on music production throughout high school.
As Louis the Child, the duo began performing at various smaller venues in 2013, spending a few years to hone their craft and develop a unique style. But in 2015, Louis the Child expericned their first breakthrough, with the single “It’s Strange.” The song was boosted by public praise from Taylor Swift, increasing Louis the Child’s fan base and bolstering demand for the duo’s performances.
Following this success, Louis the Child embarked on their first extensive tour, at times performing in support of artists such as The Chainsmokers, but also performing at some of the nation’s most notable festivals, including Coachella and Lollapalooza. The duo has not only recorded additional original music, but has also provided remixes for a number of hits, including “All Night” ( Chance the Rapper); “Genghis Khan” ( Miike Snow); and “Blasé” ( Ty Dolla Sign.) Louis the Child released their latest single, “Love is Alive,” in 2017. The song features vocals by Elohim and became their first to rise into the top forty.
