Niall Horan Biography

The Irish singer and songwriter Niall Horan was born in 1993. Long before Niall rose to prominence as one of the members of the hit boy band One Direction, he grew up in Mullingar where he attended a Catholic high school and learned to play guitar when he was in his mid teens. When he was sixteen years old, Horan auditioned for The X Factor and was chosen to collaborate with four other boys for the group competition.

The result of that collaboration, of course, was One Direction, the boy band which has since 2010 given fans such smash hits as: “One Thing”; “What Makes You Beautiful”; “One Way or Another,” “Best Song Ever,” “Story of My Life,” “Live While We’re young,” “Little Things,” “Drag Me Down,” and “Perfect.” Niall and his fellow group members hold the distinction of being the first British band to have a studio album debut at the number one spot in the United States, and they are among the era’s most successful pop groups.

As a member of One Direction, Niall Horan is recognized with multiple songwriting credits, and so it’s little surprise that when the band decided to embark on a hiatus in 2016, that Horan would pursue a solo career on the side. After signing with Capitol Records, Niall released his debut single, “This Town,” which has risen into the top twenty on the mainstream charts in the United States. Horan plans to continue to record and perform as a solo artist while at the same time remaining with One Direction when the band reconvenes in the future.
