The Last Dinner Party, an indie-rock band formed in 2020 in Brixton, London, originally went by the name The Dinner Party. The group consists of five talented musicians: Abigail Morris (lead vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals and guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, and flute), Georgia Davies (bass), and Aurora Nishevci (keys and vocals). Known for their eclectic sound and vibrant live performances, the band has quickly made a name for themselves on the UK music scene.The origins of The Last Dinner Party trace back to 2020, when Georgia Davies, Lizzie Mayland, and Abigail Morris met during Freshers' Week at King’s College London, where they bonded over their shared passion for music and their frequent visits to The Windmill, a venue showcasing emerging talent. Inspired by the local music scene, they decided to form a band. Morris later connected with Emily Roberts through a mutual friend who praised Roberts as an exceptional guitarist. Roberts then introduced Aurora Nishevci, her former schoolmate, who had collaborated with her on a prior project. In March 2020, this collective, under the name The Dinner Party, began crafting their sound.The Last Dinner Party quickly gained traction in the London live circuit. Notably, music manager Lou Smith discovered the band during one of their early gigs in February 2022, leading to a surge of interest from labels and industry professionals.In early 2022, the band signed with management firm Q Prime, and by May of the same year, they secured a record deal with Island Records. Their growing reputation allowed them to perform at high-profile events, including an opening slot for The Rolling Stones at BST Hyde Park.The band rebranded themselves as The Last Dinner Party at the start of 2023 to distinguish themselves from the existing jazz supergroup named Dinner Party. On April 19, 2023, they released their debut single “Nothing Matters,” which was met with critical acclaim and climbed to #39 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay chart, eventually reaching the Top 10.Throughout 2023, The Last Dinner Party released several singles, including "Sinner," "My Lady of Mercy," and "On Your Side," each contributing to their rising popularity. Their highly anticipated debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, was released on February 2, 2024, and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, solidifying their status as a breakout band.In addition to their album, the band received notable accolades, including the Rising Star award at the Brit Awards 2024 and winning the BBC Sound of 2024 poll, affirming their place in the music industry.
