Khalid Biography

The American singer and songwriter known as Khalid was born Khalid Robinson in 1998. Khalid was born in the Fort Stewart area of Georgia, but spent his childhood living in a variety of places due to his mother’s work in the military. Khalid spend his final school years in El Paso, Texas, graduating from high school there in 2016.

While he was in high school, Khalid began to consider a career as a musician seriously. After signing with RCA/Columbia, Khalid released his debut single, “Location,” and it was an instant success. The song rose into the top twenty on the mainstream charts but reached the number two position on the R&B charts. “Location” set the stage for Khalid’s debut album, American Teen, which arrived in the spring of 2017. The album was also a success, reaching into the top ten on the mainstream, hip-hop, and R&B charts in the United States and also charting internationally. The album spawned the top twenty R&B hits: “American Teen,” “Saved,” and “Young, Dumb & Broke.”

Since his auspicious debut, Khalid has enjoyed a career which continues on the rise. He recently appeared as a featured artist on Logic’s single “1-800-273-8255,” and also on Calvin Harris’s song, “Rollin.” Khalid’s song “Angels” was also featured on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy in April of 2017.
