Jeremy Wade Biography
British television personality, angler, and writer Jeremy Wade was born in 1956 in Ipswich. Wade grew up in the Nayland area, and after graduating from high school he received his studied zoology at Bristol University and then later earned his teaching certificate in science from the University of Kent. At first, Jeremy wanted to become a biology teacher, but his love of fishing set his life on a different career path.
Today, Jeremy Wade is best known as the host of the television series River Monsters, but before that, he spent a number of years traveling throughout the world to numerous exotic fishing locations, such as the mountain rivers of India. His experiences led to writing for various fishing magazines, until Wade developed the idea for a television show.
Today, Jeremy Wade enthralls audiences as he travels throughout the world. His television show, River Monsters, is among the most successful shows on the Animal Planet channel; the series features Wade researching and exploring potential catches around the world and then his attempt to catch the largest of these species and then release them back into the water. Conservation and education is the focus of the show, far more than simply fishing.
In addition to his work in television, Jeremy Wade has also written the books: Somewhere Down the Crazy River Coronet (1994) and River Monsters: True Stories of the Ones that Didn’t Get Away (2011.)
