Chevy Metal Biography

The cover band known as Chevy Metal was established in 2008 by drummer Taylor Hawkins, during his hiatus from the rock band Foo Fighters. Hawkins was born in the early 1970’s in Fort Worth, Texas, and launched his career as a musician in the mid 1990’s, rising to become one of the founding members of Foo Fighters.


As a member of the Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins contributed vocals and drum tracks to some of the band’s biggest hits, including: “Learn to Fly,” “All My Life,” “Best of You,” “DOA,” “Let It Die,” “Rope,” “Walk,” “Something from Nothing,” and “The Pretender.” In 2006, Hawkins began to write and record with a variety of side projects, starting with Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, and The Birds of Satan, which he launched in 2014.


Since 2008, one of Taylor Hawkins’s side projects is the cover band Chevy Metal, which plays “dirt rock” from the 1970’s, including classics and lesser known songs by bands such as The Stones, Queen, Van Halen, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, and Black Sabbath, to name a few. Chevy Metal consists of Hawkins, Wiley Hodgden on bass and vocals, and Chris Shiftlett of the Foo Fighters on guitar.


Chevy Metal performs and tours whenever Hawkins is on hiatus from Foo Fighters or The Birds of Satan. The band recently played at Las Vegas’s Count’s Vamp’d Rock Bar & Grill, in January of 2016.
