Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Biography
The American indie folk band known as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros was established in 2007, by Los Angeles-based founding member Alex Ebert. The band features a constantly changing lineup of notable musicians, featuring such contributors as: Christopher Richard, Aaron Embry, Nora Kirkpatrick, and Tyler James. The lineup is usually between ten and twelve members for each show.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros first performed shortly after its inception at the Marfa Film Festival in Texas, and released a debut album, Up from Below, two years later. The album sparked significant interest, especially on the festival touring scene, and spawned the breakthrough single “Home.” Up from Below paved the way for the follow-up albums Here (2012) and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (2013.) The band gained further exposure after joining Mumford & Sons on tour in 2011.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros has so far enamored audiences with its 1960’s/1970’s style homage to the “hippie” era, blending elements of jazz, funk, blues, pop, and folk. The band is on the rise and just getting started, but definitely one to watch. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is expected to return to the studio soon to begin work on another album, and additional touring dates for the summer of 2015 have just been announced.
