Flogging Molly Biography
The band Flogging Molly was established in California in the early 1990’s when founding member Dave King teamed up with Bridget Regan and two other musicians for the express purpose of establishing a group with a Celtic punk sound. The group began performing around the Los Angeles area, playing every week at the same locations and establishing a strong local following. Within a short period of time, Flogging Molly self-released Alive Behind the Green Door, a live album which set the stage for studio albums to follow.
Since that time, five albums have followed: Swagger (2000), Drunken Lullabies (2002), Within a Mile of Home (2004), Float (2008), and Speed of Darkness (2011.) The albums spawned the top 40 singles “Requiem for a Dying Song,” “Float,” and “Don’t Shut ‘Em Down.” The album Float received significant critical accolades for Flogging Molly and spawned a live DVD/CD set, Live at the Greek Theater (2010), from its accompanying tour.
Flogging Molly continues to record and perform with its current lineup of: Dave King (vocals, guitar); Bridget Regan (fiddle, vocals); Matt Hensley (accordion, vocals); Dennis Casey (vocals, guitar); Bob Schmidt (mandolin, banjo, vocals); Nathen Maxwell (bass guitar, vocals); and George Schwindt (drums.)
