Motion City Soundtrack Biography
The rock band Motion City Soundtrack was established in Minnesota in the late 1990’s, founded by Joshua Cain and Justin Pierre. With the addition of three other musicians, the band began recording and released their self-produced debut EP, Kids for America. The EP Back to the Beat followed, and began to garner Motion City Soundtrack some positive attention from industry press.
Motion City Soundtrack released their self-produced debut album, I Am the Movie, in 2003. The album featured the song “The Future Freaks Me Out,” which became the first of Motion City Soundtrack’s songs to chart in the UK. It was followed by “My Favorite Accident.” Since that time, Motion City Soundtrack has released the albums: Commit This to Memory (2005), Even If It Kills Me (2007), and My Dinosaur Life (2010), featuring the songs: “Everything Is Alright,” “This Is for Real,” “Disappear,” “Her Words Destroyed My Planet,” and “A Lifeless Ordinary (Need a Little Help.)”
Motion City Soundtrack continues to perform and record with the current lineup of Cain, Pierre, Jesse Johnson, Matthew Taylor, and Claudio Rivera, who just recently joined the band on drums. Motion City Soundtrack recently released the album Go, in 2012, featuring the songs “True Romance” and “Timelines.” Another single, “Inside Out,” was just released in 2013, in advance of the band’s next studio album release scheduled for sometime soon.
