Fuel Biography

The rock band Fuel was established in the late 1980’s by musicians Jeff Abercrombie and Carl Bell. Shortly after the addition of Brett Scallions and Erik Avakian, the band moved to Pennsylvania and began playing around in local Harrisburg clubs. In 1996, Fuel released their first EP, Porcelain, which brought them to the attention of major record labels. Fuel signed to Epic, and released Sunburn, their major label debut, in 1998, featuring the singles “Shimmer,” “Bittersweet,” “Sunburn,” and “Jesus or a Gun.”

The song “Sunburn” gave Fuel a bit of a boost when it was featured in the film Scream 3, and by the time the band launched a supporting tour for the album, they’d already begun to establish a strong following. As a result, Fuel’s follow-up, Something Like Human, spawned the top 40 hit “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” and the album rose to the top 20 on the Billboard charts, eventually reaching double platinum status. The albums Natural Selection (2003) and Angels & Devils (2007 followed, spawning the singles “Won’t Back Down,” “Falls on Me,” “Million Miles,” “Wasted Time,” and “Gone.”

Fuel continues to record and perform, with the current lineup of Brett Scallions, Brad Stewart, Andy Andersson, and Shannon Boone. The band recently returned to the studio to record their next album, due for release sometime in 2013.
