The punk/ska band Goldfinger was created by founding members John Feldman, Charlie Paulson, and Simon Williams. The band recorded and self-released Richter, their debut EP, which brought them to the attention of Universal Records. Goldfinger signed with Universal and the label released the band’s full debut, Goldfinger, in 1996, re-using many of the cuts from Richter. Goldfinger featured a number of successful singles, including “Here in Your Bedroom,” and within a short time, the band was establishing an growing fan base.
Goldfinger’s follow-up, Hang-Ups, was released one year later and set the course for what has become a nearly two-decade career for the band. Since 1997, Goldfinger has released the additional albums: Stomping Ground (2000), Open Your Eyes (2002), Disconnection Notice (2005), and Hello Destiny (2008.) In addition to the top 40 singles “Here in Your Bedroom,” “This Lonely Place,” and “Open Your Eyes,” Goldfinger has also provided additional songs for a number of films: “Superman,” for Kingpin; “Hopeless,” for Baseketball; “Seems Like Yesterday,” for Meet the Deedles; “Walking in the Dark,” for Dead Man on Campus; “More Today Than Yesterday,” for The Waterboy; “Vintage Queen,” for American Pie; and “99 Red Balloons,” for EuroTrip.
Goldfinger has also provided music in support of organizations which seek to promote animal rights and awareness for animal-related causes, including the songs “What Gives You The Right” and “Until Every Cage Is Empty,” provide to the Southern Animal Rights Coalition. Most recently, Goldfinger teamed up with Reel Big Fish for a series of shows in 2010 and returned to the studio in preparation for a new album (due for release in 2013.) The single “Am I Deaf” was released in May of 2013.
